Two genious: RamaMurty with R K Laxman in 1978

RamaMurthy along with his common man
Mr B V RamaMurthy was not only born cartoonist but was also had a sound and deep knowledge of english and Kannada. Mr RamaMurthy popularized the daily caption in Karnataka state (India) since 1958. His cartoons were daily published in Deccan Herald till March 24 2004. The common man was depicted in his cartoon.

Mr. RamaMurthy started caricaturing even in his school days. Celebrated journalists Philip Spratt of MysIndia and Phothan Joseph of Deccan Herald discovered his talent and encouraged him to draw for their respective journals.

In 1958 he started daily cartoons as "As you Like It". Regarding the daily cartoons Mr.Citizen no body in india would write the caption in one sentence. This is often called 'Punch Line' and he was famous for his lines. After some days, another genius Mr R K Laxman started
"You Said It" in Times of India.

Courtsey: The Finest International Political Cartoons of Our Time:1992. Edited by Joe Szabo.

Even David Lowe sent a letter of appreciation some time back. He use to do lot of oil / water painting also. Totally he was a great artist (cartooning, painting, literature). Since R K Laxman and B V RamaMurthy were contemporaries, Laxman shifted his base from Bangalore to Mumbai in 1948. Mr Laxman was working with a tabloid called Koravanjee in Bangalore. The editor was despeartely looking for a cartoonist then he made a comment on Mr RamaMurthy cartoons like this ... "Hey Laxmana, you shifted to Mumbai, so there is no worry for me as our own RamaMurthy is present here in bangalore."

M... We're thankful to Mr Ravi Tejas (Bangalore) , whose sincere and humble efforts made us to pay our heartiest respects to the genius through his contents for this section.
